How our materials work, what you're welcome to do with them, and how to reach us with questions.

We create our curriculum, stories, and learning tools with a lot of care — and we love seeing them used well. This page explains what's included with your purchase, what's permitted under each license, and how to reach us when you need something beyond the standard terms.

Copyright Protection

All Cook Learning & Story Press materials — including student workbooks, teacher guides, assessments, rubrics, lesson plans, platform-generated content, and supporting documents — are protected under United States copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 101 et seq.).

No part of any publication may be reproduced, stored, distributed, transmitted, or shared in any form or by any means without prior written permission from Cook Learning & Story Press, except as expressly permitted under the applicable license described below.

The names above are proprietary frameworks and trademarks of Cook Learning & Story Press. They may not be used, rebranded, or incorporated into other works without written permission.

License Tiers

Every purchase includes a License Notice that describes exactly what you've been granted. The tier that applies to you depends on how and where you use the materials.

Tier 1
Single Household
Homeschool
For homeschool families

One household address. All students in that household. Unlimited printing for household use. May not be shared with other families or co-ops.

Tier 2
Single Classroom
Individual Teacher
For individual educators

One teacher, one classroom at a time. License travels with the educator to any school where they are directly employed.

Tier 3
Cooperative
Co-op Groups
For homeschool co-ops

Available for groups of 2–5 families (small group) or 6–15 families (extended group). Contact us to confirm the right tier for your group size.

Tier 4
School / Site
$500 / Building
For schools & micro-schools

One building, unlimited teachers and classrooms. Includes NGSS crosswalk documentation. Separate license required per additional building.

Tier 5
Curriculum Studio
Subscription
For subscribers ($9.99–$16.99/mo)

Platform-generated lesson plans and worksheets produced within our proprietary curriculum frameworks. Cancel anytime. Downloaded content may be retained for personal use.

Tier 6
District License
Negotiated
For school districts

All buildings within the licensed district. Custom pricing based on enrollment. Requires a signed agreement. Contact us to begin the conversation.

What's Permitted — and What's Not

These apply across all license tiers. Your License Notice describes any additional permissions specific to your purchase.

Permitted
  • Print materials for students or household members within your licensed tier
  • Store files on personal or institution-managed devices within your licensed Site
  • Adapt materials internally for instructional differentiation
  • Display physical materials for instructional use
  • Store offsite backups with access restricted to licensed users
  • Use NGSS crosswalk documentation for internal compliance reporting (Site & District)
Not Permitted
  • Share, distribute, or transfer materials to anyone outside your licensed tier
  • Upload materials to publicly accessible platforms or shared cloud storage
  • Sell, sublicense, rent, or transfer any materials to a third party
  • Remove or alter any logo, copyright notice, or trademark
  • Incorporate materials into derivative works for resale
  • Charge fees to third parties for access to this curriculum

Digital Products & Refunds

Due to the digital nature of our curriculum, all sales are generally final once files have been accessed or downloaded. This is consistent with standard digital goods policies across educational publishing platforms.

Technical issues or purchase concerns? If you experience a verified technical failure preventing access to your materials, or if there has been an error with your purchase, please contact us within 30 days. We're committed to ensuring every purchaser has full access to what they've purchased.

Platform-Generated Content

Curriculum Studio and Learning Studio Pro produce lesson plans, worksheets, and curriculum materials through Cook Learning & Story Press's proprietary platform and curriculum frameworks. These frameworks represent our instructional expertise and are the foundation within which all platform-generated content is produced.

Curriculum Studio Monthly deliverables are curated and reviewed by Cook Learning & Story Press prior to delivery. As with all instructional materials, we encourage educator review and adaptation as part of good instructional practice.

Cook Learning & Story Press retains all intellectual property rights in the platform, proprietary frameworks, and all content produced through its platforms. Platform-generated content is licensed, not sold, to subscribers under the applicable subscription tier. Content downloaded prior to cancellation may be retained for personal educational use.

Special Permissions & Licensing Inquiries

For requests beyond the standard license tiers — including cooperative licensing, site licensing, district licensing, permissions for derivative works, or general copyright questions — please reach out directly. We're happy to talk through what you need.
