Our Story
About Cook Learning & Story Press
Cook Learning & Story Press began with a simple belief: curiosity is the beginning of discovery. Inspired by time spent exploring gardens, observing the natural world, and sharing stories together, this learning platform was created to bring storytelling, science, and hands-on exploration into a unified learning experience for children.
Through story-driven books, nature-inspired learning activities, and discovery experiences, Cook Learning & Story Press encourages children to ask questions, observe the world around them, and develop a deeper understanding of science and nature. Each story and learning module blends imagination with real-world exploration, helping young learners connect curiosity with knowledge.
The inspiration behind this work comes from moments of discovery shared with Olivia, whose curiosity about the natural world sparked many of the stories and learning adventures that shape this platform. From garden observations to storytelling moments, those experiences helped shape a vision where creativity and science grow together.
Cook Learning & Story Press continues to grow as a learning garden where stories, exploration, and discovery come together. Through books, discovery kits, and educational resources, the goal is to inspire families and educators to nurture curiosity, celebrate imagination, and help children discover the wonder of learning.
Our Mission
To cultivate early scientific thinking through story-driven exploration.
The Fairy Garden Series exists to help young learners:
Notice patterns
Ask thoughtful questions
Observe carefully
Make connections
Build confidence in understanding the natural world
We believe early STEM education should feel meaningful, not mechanical.
What Makes Us Different
The Fairy Garden Series is built on three principles:
1. Narrative First
Each lesson begins with a character-driven story. Concepts are introduced naturally through curiosity and problem-solving.
2. Standards-Aligned Structure
Every story includes:
Student activity sheets
Teacher guides
Vocabulary development
Reflection prompts
Observation extensions
Lessons are aligned to NGSS (LS, ESS, PS) and Common Core math standards.
3. Modular & Flexible
Lessons can be used:
Individually
By subject category
As curated volumes
In classroom or homeschool environments
This allows educators to integrate materials seamlessly into existing curriculum plans.
Standards Alignment
The Fairy Garden Series aligns with:
NGSS LS
Life Science Concepts
(Ecosystems, Plant Structure, Fungi, Competition, Roots)
NGSS ESS
Earth & Space Science
(Water Cycle, Soil Types, Erosion, Sun & Shadows, Groundwater)
NGSS PS
Physical Science
(Light, Sound, Force & Motion, Energy, Vibrations, Vortices)
CCSS Math
Counting, Patterns, Measurement, Classification, Spatial Reasoning, Accuracy
Each lesson identifies its specific standard alignment to support instructional planning and curriculum integration.
A Living Learning System
At its heart, the Fairy Garden Series is about helping children see the world differently.
Water doesn’t disappear — it travels.
Roots don’t just sit still — they respond.
Wind doesn’t just blow — it patterns and spins.
Science is not separate from imagination.
It is woven into everyday observation.
The garden is simply where the learning begins.
